Currently, there are about 3 billion cell phone users around the world. It is expected that many of the next billion users will come from emerging markets-which is why many cell phone companies have been developing cell phones which are not dependent upon electricity. Solar cell phones may pave the way for people in emerging markets to become cell phone users.
